Prayer

Why pray? A common question is why do we need to pray to God if he already knows our hearts. What do we have to tell to God that He does not already know? Well think of it this way. Say there is a little child, he is six years old. Now let's say that this kids dad is the principle of the kid's school. The dad gets all of the information about what is happening about his son, from the teachers and staff at the school; he knows what's going on. It may be good news; maybe the kid did really good on his spelling test. It may be bad; maybe the kid got picked on while at the playground that day. Now picture yourself as the father of this kid. You already have all of the information, but how much more meaningful is it to have your son tell you about his day. It takes on a whole new meaning to hear something from the one you love. Also, think about how it would make you feel if your child never shared anything about what was going on with you. You ask him how his day was and he replies with a simple, "fine."

Prayer is not revealing to God something that he does not already know, but it is participation in a relationship with your father. Prayer is sitting on the Father's lap and telling him what happened today on the playground. It is not telling God only the good things. Prayer is not just praying for the prosperity of others and yourself. Prayer is a means of the intimacy that is available to us if we choose to participate in it. If we pick and choose what we want to share with God then we limit the intimacy between us and the Father.

Open up your whole heart, hold nothing back, share you thoughts, feelings, passions, angers, struggles, and desires with God.

I AM

My identity is formed in the fact that God, "Is" That His name is, "I AM" The fact that God is God, allows me to be who I am. The only thing that I am sure of is, "I AM NOT" I am not a student, not a boyfriend, not a son, not an employee of a church; not a carpenter, not a musician, not anyone who God needs. I am a child of God, I am a child of "I AM"

life comes fast

Life comes at you pretty fast. A lot has changed in the last comple of months. I was working at my chruch this summer in canyon ridge and meet a wonderful girl. Her name is Stefani. We hit if off right away and we have now been dating for 4 month. It has been wonderful. It is a little hard becuase I am back at school in California, but it is working out. The great thing though is that I am home every two weeks for work. The church decided that they wanted to keep me on board, so i work for them from school and go home every other weekend. I've been staying really busy with everything but I love what I am doing. I work primarily with community groups and bible studies for middle school through college. I got to come on board at the beginning of a big shift in structre and it has been amazing to see everything start falling into place.
Life comes pretty fast, and it is necessary to stop and look around once and a while so it doesnt pass you by.

life slows down

in my sound design class the other day we were talking about how films are the most complete form of communication. This is because you have the ability to add music or sounds to a scene that are able to convey the emotion of the characters in the film. I love sitting down at starbucks or somewhere and watching people while listening to music. I love listening to really mellow, slow, acoustic music. It makes me feel like i am in a movie. It is as if time were standing still for the duration of the song. I try to find the slowest, quietest songs I can. It seems to make life go by slower, as if I were going through life in slow motion. I am able to reflect on the more important things in life and to evaluate my own life.
